Computer Science Labs
Lab hours (AEC 515 and AEC 517):
Monday thru Thursday 6 AM - midnight
Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7 AM - 10 PM
For additional access, please contact Professor Liew.
The Linux servers are available remotely at any time.
If entrance to the lab is needed after hours, please call
Public Safety x5330.
Lab proctors are available from 7 PM - 10 PM on Monday through
Thursday to provide user support as needed.
The Linux servers have many major programming languages available,
including C++, Java, Prolog, Lisp, Python, Perl, Mathematica,
and Latex.
The Windows XP workstations have standard software packages
installed, including Office 2000, Microsoft Visual Studio,
Firefox, Netscape, Internet Explorer, Symantec, JDK, Ghostview,
Acrobat Reader, and Emacs.
Specific hardware or software issues and problems, as well
as any reasonable requests for software installation, can
be made by mailing help@cs.lafayette.edu.

We have a cluster of computing machines for research use.
These machines are connected through a Gigabit switch and
are listed below (they have the suffix research.cs.lafayette.edu)

Note that Linux and Windows XP accounts are given automatically
to anyone taking a CS course. If an account is required for
another reason, mail
the lab manager.
Also note that to create files on the Web from your CS account,
place those files in your directory called "public_html".
Make them world readable, and call the default homepage "index.html".
From then on, the site will be accessible via /~username where
"username" is your username. Again, if there are
any questions, mail the lab manager.
